Dina is a General Practitioner who always had a passion for cooking and entertaining. She loves vibrant colours and has an eye for detail.

She and Jagdish transformed a little Victorian house into a warm place that recreates the ambiance and hospitality of the golden era of the Mughals. Décor elements show off imperial India with prized antiques that demonstrate the splendour of good craftsmanship.

Together they are the most attentive hosts which make Chandani the place to go back to again and again.

Chandani is an Indian and vegetarian restaurant, which offers a very traditional regional Indian experience.

Chandani means moonlight, hence we say, "Come taste the moonlight."

Jagdish, the proprietar, started his career at the age of seven, when he began working in a restaurant kitchen, chopping ingredients in amongst copper pots and coconut fashioned spoons.

These are well loved tools he still uses today. In the Chandani kitchen most things are still done the traditional way, spices are freshly ground for the days preparations, yogurt and cheese made in cheese cloth and each creation is fashioned from scratch. A charcoal oven gives an authentic smoky taste with delicate layers of flavour. Spices not readily found in South Africa are directly imported from India.
